Parking fun

I got a really great parking spot when I got home last night — even though it was pretty late, at least later than such prime spots are usually available.

But it was also a spot that I won’t be able to consider next week. That’s when street cleaning starts, so I’ll have to remember every Tuesday night not to park in certain places, or my car will get towed. Ugh.

Not to criticize street cleaning. I love clean streets as much as anyone else, but when the city starts its regular weekly or biweekly spring cleaning rituals, those of us who rely on street parking have to be a little more resourceful when looking for a place to store our vehicles for the night. I’ve gotten used to parking as much as a 10-15 minute walk from my doorstep.
Sometimes I wonder why I put myself through this. But then I think about how much fun it is to live in the city and I decide that the occasional hassle is worth it.

Oh to have street parking. In Brookline, I’m paying to park a 10 minute walk from my house. At least in Boston it’s a gamble.

If you only need a car occasionally, perhaps you should consider joining ZipCar. It’s cheaper than owning a car, and you don’t have to worry about where to park it when you get home!
