Thank goodness the governor is announcing initiatives today to help fight violence in the streets of Boston. Mayor Menino’s disregard of the problem earlier this week was unacceptable. He actually said it was the media’s fault for going out of their way to highlight the violence that was happening. What should the media do? Just ignore the problem so the city’s top guy can look good. Read the TAB’s view (coming soon).

It wasn’t until I started doing the crime log for the A-B TAB that I realized how much crime was going on in my neighborhood. On one hand, that’s kind of good, it at least meant that people weren’t getting shot in the street. But, I do like to know what’s going on around me. After I realized all the shady things that were going on in my area, I became much more vigilant. Ultimately, I think it’s the media’s responsibility to let people know if they may be in danger.
