Marathon’s a go

The Marathon has never been canceled due to weather and it looks like it won’t be this time either. Click here.

Running will be in the rain

It just started raining and from here in the office it looks like there’s some sleet mixed in. It won’t be too different on Monday when the Boston Marathon once again happens — rain or shine — and according to most weather sources it’s supposed to be in the forties, rainy *and* windy. Wonder what [...]

Coming soon: Our new look

We’ve been pretty busy lately working on a new design for the TAB’s website and hopefully in the next few days we will be able to show you what we’ve been up to.

It’s all part of a larger plan to do a better job showcasing our work (including more photography, videos and new blogs) and, [...]

I didn’t realize Allston night life died when I moved

That’s how I felt last night when I was trying to park on Kelton Street, anyway.
In no way am I the world’s best parker. Sometimes, it takes me a few tries as I just taught myself how to parallel park less than a year ago. Parking on Kelton Street makes it even more difficult because [...]

This makes me mad

Today, I noticed a new sign on Chestnut Hill Driveway, where I and countless other Brighton residents park (it runs parallel to Comm. Ave. alongside the reservoir). The sign reads: “No parking. Street Sweeping. 3rd Friday , 8 AM to 12 PM, April 3 to Nov. 30. TOW ZONE.”
Now I love to get towed [...]

Doing something about the violence

Here’s more about the governor’s anti-crime initiative:

Violence *is* out of control

Thank goodness the governor is announcing initiatives today to help fight violence in the streets of Boston. Mayor Menino’s disregard of the problem earlier this week was unacceptable. He actually said it was the media’s fault for going out of their way to highlight the violence that was happening. What should the media do? Just [...]

Urban Gardener is back

Sunshine, warm weather, blossoming flowers. These are the sweet signs of spring we all look forward to. Here at the TAB, there’s something else to look forward to — the return of our Urban Gardener column. We’ll post it on our site shortly.

“The Mole” nabbed in Allston

Who needs crime novels when apparently Allston has its very own sagas? They come complete with colorfully-named criminals such as Harold Madison Jr, aka “Mr. Butch,” and Dane “The Mole” Brun, who was recently re-arrested after just being released from jail. Find out who “The Mole” is and why he was arrested by reading [...]

Minstrel Show - don’t miss it!

If you haven’t seen the St. Anthony’s School Minstrel Show yet, don’t worry - it’s not too late. The last performance is tonight, Monday, April 2nd.
Having seen the show on Saturday night, I would highly recommend it. It was a blast! The first half was chock full of corny jokes and memorable songs from the [...]

Gorlova book sounds like a great read

I have to say that “From Boston — About Boston,” the book by Russian native Ella Gorlova sounds fascinating (see our story in the March 30 TAB).
Imagine a book about Boston geared specifically toward helping a particular immigrant population understand the city and America in general. While this seems great for the Russian-speakers in our [...]
