A ticket is what I got

I normally have the third Friday of every month blocked off on my calendar. Not because I’ve got a hot date, but because that’s when the fine DCR folks come by and tow all cars in sight on Chestnut Hill Driveway and sweep the street. Usually I move my car to an undisclosed location and go about my daily business. Today was different.
I never looked at my calendar and by the time I woke up to the sound of honking horns, I knew it was too late. I looked outside to see my car was next for a tow. I ran outside as quickly as I could, not realizing that I had skipped buckling my belt. When I got to my car, the tow driver had managed to slip the tow truck’s underbelly under my car.
“Can you not tow this car? I’m gonna move it,” I said to the tow truck driver.
“Talk to the trooper,” he said.
I walked over to the state trooper, who was busy writing a ticket to another unsuspecting driver.
“Excuse me,” I said in my most polite voice. “I’m going to move my car, but they’re towing it.”
He didn’t say anything, but started walking slowly over to the tow driver. Then he gestured with his right hand in front of his neck. “Hey!!” he yelled and then made a sawing motion at his adam’s apple. “You’re going to have to pay the $25 ticket,” he told me next. “Hey anything’s better than getting towed,” I said.
The tow truck driver let me go and I was happy. But I still have to pay the ticket.

Wow, you got lucky!
I’ve definitely seen many situations where they’ll tow your car away w. you standing right there.
I’ve been worried about something like this happening since April –so far, so good, but I’ll have to knock on wood!
