Police arrested two people after they allegedly stole a bankcard from an 82-year-old blind woman and drained her bank account to buy milk and Air Jordan sneakers.
Arniya Smith, 22, of 50 Whipple St., Lowell and Dennis King, 24, of 11 Waumbeck St., Dorchester, were arrested and charged with larceny by scheme over $250 of a disabled elderly person. The elderly victim told police on Nov. 30 that her card was stolen after she paid for merchandise at the A.J. Wright store at 60 Everett St.
Surveillance video reportedly showed Smith, the cashier at the store, hiding the card after the victim paid. Smith then passed the card off to King, who allegedly used the card at a supermarket in Cambridge and at the Cambridge Side Galleria, where he allegedly spent $172.50 on new sneakers.
Police arrested Smith and King as Smith was leaving A.J. Wright around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 30. Smith reportedly told police she needed the money to buy milk for her 5-month-old baby and then reportedly said the bank would give the victim back her money.

Wow, that’s low. I hope the cashier was fired into the bargain.
has anyone ever investigated this store? it seems like there is a story involving a casier commiting a crime once a month on the police logs.they steal customers credit cards, they let friends come through and charge them pennies for hundreds of dollars in merchandise.i will not set foot in this place because i am so afraid of being ripped off somehow.maybe one of the writers for the tab could do a little story about this den of thieves.
