“Billy is home!”

It seems like almost every week, a break-in is thwarted because the resident wakes up and the thief gets spooked.  Take the following entry from this week’s police log:

A 28-year-old man reported to police that his Saybrook Street home was broken into around 2 p.m. on Dec. 5. The victim was sleeping in his bedroom when a man entered his room and yelled, “Billy is home!” before running down the stairs. Police found a plasma TV and a Playstation near the top the stairs, which the victim said were taken from his roommate’s room.

Police have been cracking down on break-ins, but there’s probably no better method than scaring the potential thief out of the house yourself.
