Farewell

No one likes Mondays, but today is particularly bittersweet because it begins my last week here at the Tab. I’ve greatly enjoyed meeting and writing about the fun, eccentric and dedicated people of Allston-Brighton, as well as the issues they face.
So, in honor of my last week, here are five of my favorite stories that I wrote during my tenure here.
- It doesn’t get much more exciting than an election, especially one with an open seat and six qualified candidates, like the one for A-B city councilor last year.
- Covering funerals isn’t supposed to be fun, but the mood during the parade through Allston in honor of Mr. Butch was more celebratory than mournful, and all the memories folks shared left a smile on your face.
- Brighton resident Meyer Hack’s powerful story of surviving the concentration camps during the Holocaust is simply unforgettable.
- There was nothing more uplifting than the Presentation School Foundation’s triumphant purchase of the school building from the Archdiocese of Boston in October.
- The folks who workout at the Wai Kru gym in Allston may enjoy kicking and punching each other, but the gym creates an uncanny sense of family.
And that doesn’t even begin to tell the stories of all the other residents, activists, artists, business owners, bloggers, parents, politicians, candidates, officials and people I’ve met. Thanks for the memories, and for giving me plenty to cover.

Rich, it was great having you cover our neighborhood.
It always amazed me that you managed to put out so many well-written and interesting articles week after week.
Wherever your travels take you, may you have good luck.
As a Brighton resident and colleague, I’ll miss you!
But it’s aN election.
OK, that’s the last bit of crap I’ll give you. You’re now free to leave.
Rich,
Good luck on your future endeavors. Visit the Brighton Centered Blog for a good luck posting!

Where are you going? I know you are staying at Cory’s for a night, but I think you must be heading for something new? Whatever it is, we know you will succeed.
