Free tax assistance at the Brighton Branch Library runs Fridays only from 10 a.m.-noon through April 15. This service is sponsored by AARP and includes both federal and state tax returns. Individuals should bring any tax statement received from a bank, brokerage, mortgage company, etc. Those older than 65 should bring a copy of any recent home assessment and water and sewer bills, since Massachusetts offers a credit to certain taxpayers for these expenses. Another deduction is one for home heating costs. Clients should bring a copy of any oil or gas bills paid in November or December as well. Assistance will be first-come, first-served. For more information, call 617-782-6032.

Please note, an incorrect listing in last week’s edition of the TAB omitted that the tax assistance at the library is only happening on Fridays and not on any other day of the week.
