Public safety alert

The following just in from D-14 police:

In that past two weeks there have been five street robberies of residents in the Commonwealth Ave area, from Washington Street to Chestnut Hill Ave. and specifically the Wallingford / Leamington Street area.

The crimes are taking place in the early hours of the evening and target individuals walking alone, usually senior citizens.

Suspects are three or four black males age 16 to 20 years of age. Suspects are usually wearing dark or black clothing

District 14 has initiated a Safe Street Team, plainclothes and Uniform Officers to the area as part of the investigations.

If you see any suspicious activity call 911.
