Allston farmer’s market too expensive?

The TAB just got a voice message from an anonymous caller who said the new Harvard-run market in Barry’s corner is so expensive it belongs in Wellesley or Cambridge where people can afford it. Has anyone been to it? Thoughts?

Yes. I know of several people who went to the Farmer’s Market. I asked them what was down there and they said large tomato plants and strawberries that were overly priced. Only four vendors. Not very interesting to Allston residents.

Check back again…more vendors are showing up. It’s early in the season.

Check back again now - there are now four farmers, two bakers, and a rotating variety of specialty vendors. Now that it’s late July farmers have a full range of produce to offer - lots of good fruits and vegetables.
