The newly-opened Harvard Education Portal is hosting an “Ed Portal Science Adventure” on Saturday, July 26, 3-6 p.m. Science mentors will be running various booths each of which will have a different science experiment or activity.

Boston police National Night out — Saturday morning

As part of the Neighborhood Crime Watch Unit’s National Night Out celebration, each of the 11 Boston Police Districts will be hosting neighborhood celebrations. A-B Little League are District 9 champs

The Allston-Brighton Little League majors played in the District 9 championship game against East Boston Monday, July 12, at Smith Field in Brighton. The Allston-Brighton players won the game 5-3 and will now go on to the sectionals on Thursday in Melrose.

Gun in a bar

Three men were arrested after one of them allegedly flashed a firearm, which reportedly turned out to be loaded, in Boyne Pub on Western Ave early Friday morning. The three were charged in Brighton District Court with a variety of offenses. More on this soon.

Annual Brighton garden tour this weekend

The annual Brighton Garden Tour will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, rain or shine. It will be self-guided and will feature 12 gardens in the Faneuil area.
