Pike tolls could go up to $2.25
Now on Wicked Local Allston/Brighton: Among the possible plans outlined yesterday were a $1 hike at the Allston-Brighton and Weston tool booths to $2.25, while other plans called for steep increases in tolls at the Sumner, Callahan and Ted Williams tunnels, in some cases to more than $8.
Hate crimes on the rise
According to this Boston Herald article, reported hate crimes are on the rise throughout the city and in Allston-Brighton in particular.
Suspect in Boyne Pub gun case does not show in court
Update: Following their arraignment Monday, two of the suspects involved in bringing guns into the Boyne Pub this summer, Dennis Senna and Maurice Coates remain in custody. A third suspect, Gontrand Germaine is out on $5000 cash bail. The fourth suspect to be identified, Jock Pinkney, did not show up for Monday’s scheduled arraignment [...]

Underage drinking crackdown
Almost 60 people under the age of 21 were found in possession of alcohol during a crackdown by authorities in which investigators (with cooperation from management) posed as clerks at two Brighton liquor stores, according to this Boston Herald story. Those who bought or tried to buy liquor for minors will face charges.
BC should make “substantial modifications” to plans, task force says
The BC task force sent a 17 page letter to the BRA outlining everything that’s wrong with the college’s plans and criticizing it for not being responsive to neighborhood concerns.
