Get ready for time travel!

Yep, it’s that time of the year again, time to play time traveler and turn those clocks ahead. And if it seems awful early this year, you’re right. The federal goverment has added a month to Daylight-saving time this year, kicking it off tomorrow morning at 2 a.m. instead of in April. Why? Well, it’s supposed to save us a bunch of money. Only thing is, we’ve tried this before — in the ’70s. A few years later, we switched it back.

For some really odd time chaging ideas, though, check out this link to a woman running an Internet campaign to get rid of Daylight-saving altogther. She doesn’t stop there, though. She’d also like to switch the U.S.’s four time zones to two. I don’t know about you, but I sure as heck wouldn’t want to be living on the edge of that great divide.

Besides, there’s so little time in our lives these days, perhaps it gives us some small measure of control to pretend twice a year that we actually have the capability to add or subtract an hour to our lives. I don’t know about anyone else, but personally, I’m more of a fan of that extra hour of sleep.
