Can a sex offender live there?

Should towns pass laws limiting where sex offenders can live and work? It’s a question that’s been asked in Clinton recently and we’re not alone. Several other towns in the commonwealth have either passed or are considering passing such laws.

Check out this story from our sister paper MetroWest Daily News today on Marlborough’s attempts to keep sex offenders away from schools and other sensitive sites. Marlborough seems ready to pass the measure, with seven of 11 city councilors apparently in favor.

Is this a witch hunt or a genuinely effective measure to protect those who are the most innocent among us from those monsters that lurk in the shadows? Should Clinton look at something like this? We’ve been surprised we haven’t seen more talk like this in Clinton recently with all the stir our Level 3 at the knife shop on High Street has created.
