Behind the Times
All up in our business

A ton of stories in this week’s Times & Courier about business. There’s the one about Weetabix growing and greening; there’s the other front-pager about a car dealership on Berlin Street; there’s stories inside about Nestle (and their thirst for Wekepeke water) and a state grant to help Nypro expand). That’s on top of last week’s stories on a new computer cafe downtown and the sale of Lancaster Mills, fraught with questions over how the building will be used — business, residential or some mix?
This growth downtown, at Weetabix and at Nypro comes amid a supposedly bad climate for business in Massachusetts. Is Clinton doing something right that other towns aren’t doing?
But then there’s the other side of the coin, where commercial uses interact with homes and families. Is there something wrong with “unlimited” cars parked on Berlin Street? Is there something wrong with a developer taking an old industrial building and turning it into condos?
Also in today’s Times & Courier: some folks on Chestnut Street aren’t too happy about plans for a Senior Center there, in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Pick up the paper for more or read it here.
Delivery note: Because of the mid-week holiday, our delivery schedule was a bit unusual this week. Print subscribers should have received the paper two days early, Tuesday, but some single-copy buyers looking for us at newsstands, in newspaper boxes and in the Times & Courier newsroom told us they couldn’t find the paper. By about noon today (Thursday), all our regular vendors should have had copies in hand, though. If you’re still looking for a paper, give us a call at 978-365-8040.
