Waltham and Clinton police, along with the FBI, yesterday arrested a Clinton man accused of several Boston-area bank robberies, according to a report today from the Arlington Advocate newspaper.
The attempted robbery in Waltham Tuesday morning was just one of a rash of four reported area bank robberies or attempted robberies yesterday with suspects matching similar descriptions in Arlington, Waltham and Newton. In addition, several other banks in Newton, Watertown and Waltham were either robbed or had attempted robberies over the past week with suspects also matching similar descriptions.
The suspect’s name is John D. Spencer, of Highland Avenue. No mugshot with the story, but a post yesterday on Our Towns Tonight, our regional blog, had a video still of the robber of the Arlington bank, suspected to be Spencer.
Side note: if you’re the type who reads bylines (thanks!), you’ll see a familiar name on this one. Seems even when he takes a job at our sister paper in Arlington, Noah can’t keep his notebook away from Clinton news.
