Thursday: Busing cuts tabled

Leading the front page in our Thanksgiving Day edition — which hit newsstands this afternoon, and should be in mailboxes Wednesday, but is technically still Thursday’s paper — is local reaction to the passing of former Fire Chief Thomas Moore. We had the obituary online Monday; the funeral is Wednesday.
At the bottom of the page is a fun story about local merchants’ and town officials’ Thanksgiving thanks. Which Clinton official thanks his wife for putting up with his busy schedule? Which Lancaster writer is “very thankful for telephones and flush toilets”? We’ve got the scoop.
And in the middle of the page is a story about the WRTA’s plans to cut service to Clinton. We had this story online last Wednesday, and it’s already been updated: the WRTA board met this morning, and decided not to go through with the cuts — yet. A pledge for more state money from Worcester’s senators might help service there, but it’s hard to envision the WRTA holding on to Route 110, which costs about 10 times as much to operate, per rider, as routes in the city.
