Wekepeke’s Web

Straight from the horse’s mouth, a one-stop-shop for everything Nestle has to say about its proposal to bottle water at the Wekepeke reservoirs in Sterling, owned by the town of Clinton. This came in through e-mail today:

Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) is in the process of responding to an RFP issued by the Town of Clinton to pay the town for the use of water from the Wekepeke.

We have established a website to convey to the communities of Clinton and Sterling the very latest information on our proposal. The website, www.nestlewatersma.com, discusses our project (under the heading “Concept Plan”) and also provides information about NWNA in general. There will also be meetings with community members which you can find out about through the website.

Interesting reading. Meanwhile, selectmen voted last night to go ahead with applying for the Rauscher Farm grant — which means they’ll have to sign a conservation restriction on the Wekepeke land. Selectmen told me after the meeting that the town’s concerns with signing a C.R. — Clinton selectmen were supposed to do this years ago — amount to phrasing and minor issues, which the board hopes to smooth over in time for the June 30 Rauscher grant deadline.
