As much as it pains us to report a bad story for the umpteenth time — that old tragedy, teen with his whole life in front of him dies in automobile accident — there is always the silver lining that we don’t mind repeating each time this happens: community comes together to honor high schooler’s memory and, now, the permanent memorial (via e-mail this weekend):demeo

Plans are in the works to fuel a scholarship in memory of Stow’s Frankie DeMeo, the Nashoba Regional High School (NRHS) senior who died February 5 after being struck by a car while jogging near the school. The NRSD community is invited to a kick-off meeting for the fund on Friday, February 29, starting at 7 p.m. at NRHS in Bolton. … The scholarship is a celebration of the drive and determination that Frankie DeMeo so strongly exemplified. Plans for a series of events will be presented at the meeting. For more information on the meeting, contact Vinnie Sestito at 978/562-8577, or vinsestito@aol.com.

The price for this scholarship is already too high, but now Frank DeMeo’s relatives and friends will know that long after his untimely death, his name will bring aid and joy to Nashoba teens who make it to the graduation day he never saw.
