Sweet Meadow Farm, Dowse Orchards and Sunshine Farm will all be open Sunday, Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Sherborn’s annual Farm Day tour. Sweet Meadow’s a newcomer to Farm Day this year, so be sure to check it out.

Dover Social Club Fall Fling Cocktail Party

Fall is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to catch up with friends and hear their summer stories … So book your babysitter and plan to attend the annual Fall Fling Cocktail Party! Paula and Rob Lordi (17 Old Colony Drive) have graciously offered to host the party on Friday, Sept. 12, at 7:30 p.m. Appetizers, dessert and drinks will be served and the cost is $35 per person. Please mail checks (made out to Dover Social Club) to Lynda Barnes at 71 Centre St., Dover. For more information, contact Lynda at 508-785-1486.

The Dover Social Club welcomes current and new Dover residents, and requires no fee to join. In existence for more than 30 years, the Social Club is a great way to connect with fellow residents and meet new friends. Mark your calendar for these fall events, and look for information soon on the annual Progressive Dinner, and other events to happen this year.

Fall Family Festival postponed!

The Fall Family Festival planned for this coming Saturday by the Sherborn Fire and Rescue Association has been postponed until Sept. 13 due to possible stormy weather this weekend. The Fire & Rescue Association made the announcement after the print deadline for this week’s Dover-Sherborn Press, which reports that it will happen this Sunday, Sept. 6.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

In honor of Roald Dahl’s birthday on Sept. 13, the Sherborn Library will show the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. This movie is rated G. This event is free and open to the public.

Ayla Brown sings in Sherborn Wednesday

The long-awaited performance by American Idol finalist Ayla Brown is finally here. The concert, which takes place Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at the Sherborn Community Center will benefit the Sherborn library.
Tickets to the event are $15. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door, but they will also be available in advance at the library, The Sherborn Out, Sherborn Wine and Spirits, and Sherborn’s Eaton Apothecary. Ayla will autograph and sell her CD “Forward” at the concert.

Not the classic comedy from 1939, but the remake shot last year in Boston and Dover (among other places).

According to the Internet Movie DataBase Web site, the movie is going to premiere the week of Sept. 12.

The remake stars Meg Ryan and Annette Bening.

Mosquito control coming up

Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project has announced that its personnel will be in Sherborn in early September to investigate residents’ complaints about mosquitoes. They are tentatively scheduled to be in town Sept. 4 & 11. Got complaints about mosquitoes? Call 508-393-3055 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., M-F.

“Into the Woods” opens!

Performances of the musical, “Into the Woods,” will be held starting at 8 p.m. at the Sherborn Community Center, Two Sanger Street, on Thursday, Aug. 21, through Sunday, Aug. 24. Tickets are being sold at the Dover Deli, Sherborn’s Eaton Apocathery and at the door. Advance tickets are also available by calling 508-785-8005.
