Are You In or “Auf”
Get Michael Kors’s take on the runway shows

Leanne put together something that was interesting and sophisticated and it definitely had a point of view. In a weird way she managed to have a focused collection that still had variety. She took an idea and she stretched it. The clothes were young as well as sophisticated at the same time.
What’s next for her? Well, everyone thinks that they have to put on this big runway show and that’s not necessarily always the case. I think her clothes are very much about seeing the workmanship, the detailing and all that, so I definitely think she’s got the goods to do her own thing. I don’t think she should feel obliged to do a big show right away. I think there’s something to be said about things growing slowly and organically and that might be better for her. Then people can really see the clothes up close, because when you put the kind of workmanship into something that’s understated, things can get lost. She could do a fun presentation, maybe, or a still life on mannequins. I don’t think she necessarily has to rush out and put on a whole show.
I think her clothes will be appreciated in both Europe and Japan so she should probably think about bringing it over her line to Paris where you’re going to find more of the European buyers as well as the Asian buyers. Once again, I think her clothes will do really well in Asia. I think they have an understanding of sophisticated workmanship. You’re not going to see her clothes in the local mall. They’re not for that. She’s got to keep it high-end and sophisticated and keep her focus, which I think she will.
As for Korto’s collection. I remember the beads well. There was one asymmetrical dress where the beads were built in and I loved that. Everything she wanted her collection to be - ethnic without being costume-y, playful with color - she managed to hit that with certain parts of the collection. But I think the necklaces, when they were just necklaces on their own, looked added.
Leanne: It hasn’t sunk in yet

Not surprising! She also says she’s “not surprised” she won — it’s nice to see someone so proud of their collection!
See what else she had to say.
Also, this may sound terrible, but does anyone else want to whisk her off to a big New York hairstylist for a new look, now that she’s won?

We were super sad to see him eliminated from the finale. At least we know he got to show at Bryant Park anyway, since that’s how Project Runway keeps from spoiling who the final three are each season.
You have to hand it to him: he picked Leanne as the winner.
Leanne’s the winner!

What do you guys think?
Personally, we thought Korto should have won based on her runway show, but Leanne was a consistent favorite of ours throughout the season. Kudos!
Plus, we see Korto going really, really far in fashion no matter what.
We’re glad Kenley didn’t win. Her collection was “meh,” though it was not awful. We don’t understand what her deal is with blatantly copying looks from other designers, and then claiming idiotically that she never pays attention to what other designers do. Clearly she needs to pay attention to fashion history and fashion trends as they happen; she’d be a bad designer if she didn’t.
Her attitude through the past few episodes has been awful. And how naive of her to think it doesn’t matter how you treat people.
We were secretly glad that Tim Gunn was the last-minute fill-in judge; Kenley couldn’t have put it better when she herself said, “I guess I should have had a better attitude” when she found out he’d be judging.
And did anyone else find it odd how strained Kenley’s relationship with her family seemed? She made it sound like she’d alienated them, the same way she did to the other designers. Like it’s Kenley’s world and everyone else just lives in it.

Just for fun — here the designers reveal something “shocking” about themselves. Like Koto, who says she’s not only a great designer, she’s a master cook. Or, there’s Suede, who raises Guinea Hens, and Kenley, who thinks it’s interesting that she can do a backflip:
Denied! Bravo Prevents Project Runway Takeoff

As Heidi Klum says, in the world of fashion one day you’re in, the next you’re out. Lifetime is learning that lesson the hard way.
A judge has granted NBC Universal a preliminary injunction that prevents the Weinstein Co. frommoving Project Runway from NBCU-owned Bravo to Lifetime next year.
“NBC Universal is pleased that the court granted our motion for a preliminary injunction against the Weinstein Company,” the media powerhouse said in a statement.
“The overwhelming evidence demonstrated that the Weinstein Company violated NBC Universal’s right of first refusal to future cycles of Project Runway. After hearing all of the evidence, the court issued an order prohibiting the Weinstein Company from taking the show or any spinoff to Lifetime.”
“We are disappointed with the court’s decision to grant the preliminary injunction against the Weinstein Company.,” Lifetime said in response to the ruling.
“It’s unfortunate that the people hurt most by this ongoing dispute are the loyal fans of Project Runway. In the meantime, Lifetime will pursue all measures to uphold its valid and binding agreement reached with the Weinstein Company for Season 6 of Project Runway.”
The brothers Weinstein, who have stood by the legitimacy of their actions, said in a statement that they will “obviously” appeal the ruling.
“We are glad that the court held that NBC Universal cannot exhibit the program on Bravo and that court required NBC Universal to post a minimum $20 million bond. Obviously we will be appealing and remain committed to our partners,” the Weinstein Co. said.
NBCU insists that the producers were contractually obligated to give Bravo right of refusal before shopping the show and any spin-offs to other networks.
A motion to dismiss NBCU’s breach-of-contract suit was also denied. A conference has been set for Oct. 15 to schedule a hearing to start fast-tracking the proceedings.
“While it appears that resting Project Runway for a period of time will not cause harm to the show, the court must ensure that is not off the air for an excessive period of time,” stated the injunction order obtained by Television Week.
“Therefore, because this court finds that plaintiffs have also established a balancing of the equities in its favor, the court will enjoined Lifetime from promotion, marketing and exhibition of future cycles ofProject Runway. However, this matter will be put on a schedule such that the issues will be resolved through expedited proceedings.”
Lifetime had initially planned to roll out the sixth cycle of Runway in November, but recently announced the premiere would be pushed back to January. Nonetheless, production had already begun, the designers chosen and the first guest judge, Lindsay Lohan, booked.
Meanwhile, season five is down to four designers, three of whom will be picked to show collections at Bryant Park (which they’ve already done, in real life, during New York Fashion Week). The finale airs Oct. 15, although whether it also marks Project Runway’s final auf wiedersehen to Bravo now remains to be seen.
