By 7:45 a.m., while soccer moms like myself were still getting the coffee and the kids to the field, lots of very large men were prepping the field at Natick High for graduation tomorrow.
Congrats to all who made it.

Saturday morning, on the common.
Holy cow, that was a big bolt of lightning

I’m catching up on work, glancing out the window in the direction of Framingham, and seeing really big bolts of lightning.
Hope nothing lands on something folks care about. They sound close.
Why are all these nice girls getting their nails done?

I’ve been on vacation this week, so I thought well, it’s Friday before a long weekend, so there’ll be no one around and I can walk in somewhere new and get a pedicure.
Fail.
Tonight is the prom. I only figured this out after seeing van-loads of very pretty young ladies getting driven around, trying to not text with wet nails.
I hope everyone is having a safe night.
I should have known this was the work of a flock

At Bacon Street and Park Avenue this morning:

flock: n. 1. A group of animals that live, travel, or feed together. 2. A group of people under the leadership of one person, esp. the members of a church. (American Heritage College dictionary)

This flock brought to the neighborhood by the First Congregational Church of Natick.
Lessons at T-ball

“Are we allowed to speak?”
The parent from the Orioles watching the T-ball game noted my son is on the Blue Jays, and in Natick, folks take their rivalries seriously.
I’ve been a little afraid of Natick sports, in part because I was a jock pushed too hard by adults when I was little, and in part because more than one sports-crazed parent tried to recruit my youngest for a sport.
When he was 2 years old.

But at T-ball, the question from the parent on the other team was a joke, and what I saw were two teams with almost as many parents on the field as players, and kids getting basic lessons in hitting, running to first base before running to second base, and taking turns while batting.
The Blue Jays have learned how to catch the ball, which involves learning how to watch the plays being made. The Orioles, I’m told, have learned to focus as a team, chanting while waiting for their turns to bat. Stance, thinking about where the ball is before you swing, thats science, really.

Th0se aren’t bad lessons.

This very large, wild, fat rabbit was so bold, he didn’t move, even when my kids were yelling at him that his name should be “Fatty” or “Jeeps.” (Jeeps? I don’t know either.)

I haven’t seen any burrow in the yard, but they’re all over the neighborhood. This guy was eating dandelions. Maybe he’ll leave my peas alone.
Always barbecue away from a building

You need to be what, 15 feet away from a building when using a barbecue?
It might be ironic this grill is in compliance because the building that was here was removed after a massive fire.

Truly, I love the Kinderkicks program in Natick. It’s only for kindergarten-age kids, but it lets them get exposure to a really fun sport with very, very low-pressure coaches. It’s just about skills and fun.

Saturday was the start of practices for kindergarten players.

Startling last week to suddenly see a crane. This is at MathWorks, as seen from Walnut Street.
