A great rendition
I cannot sing. I know that. Most people who try to sing the national anthem also cannot sing, or at least sing that song. But this e-mailed video clip is one Arlington resident who does a very nice job. To pull it off in front of a crowd at Fenway? More remarkable still. His name [...]
For anyone confused about the subcommittee
Special thanks to School Committee chairwoman Susan Lovelace for providing this excerpt from the Superintendent’s contract, This should clarify confusion about the renewal issue:
The term of this Agreement shall be for the period July 1, 2005
through June 30, 2008 and shall terminate on that date absent a
specific written agreement to extend it; provided the School
Committee [...]
School Committee member Ron Spangler’s speech
here is his speech he gave last night.:
When I was elected, there were a lot of questions about the Superintendent, and I found it very hard to separate fact from rumor, innuendo, and accusations. I couldn’t make the call on the Superintendent, though many people wanted me to. I [...]

By the way…Public Participation just finished, and almost all of them talked about the potential renewal negotiation of Levenson, positively and negatively. Jacques Duranceau, [...]
Packed house tonight!
Let’s just say the School Committee room is standing-room only and people are still walking in the door. Looks like the agenda list this evening has caused quite the stir in the Arlington community.

The story on Brian A. Sullivan of Belmont, the referee who passed away during the AHS football game on Friday, is now available on the homepage of the Advocate. I didn’t write it, and I am glad I did not have to. Those are some of the toughest stories to write.
to vote or not to vote?
Okay…so I read a memo School Committee chairwoman Susan Lovelace sent out to committee members on Sept. 21, which was posted by Bob Sprague on his website after she sent it to him in an e-mail. That’s where I read the memo.
Apparently Lovelace doesn’t expect a vote on the contract…this is what the memo states:
I [...]
